ABOUT FORAGERS

Foragers is a collective network for students, faculty, researchers, and professionals interested in food and agriculture. Our goal is to connect scholars with each other, and to connect research with community practitioners, organizations, and decision-makers.

Food is a crucial aspect of human life, and our ability to understand how we grow, distribute, and consume it will define our future. We have extraordinary talent in our local colleges and universities, but few opportunities to learn from and respond to each others’ research, as well as connect with each other as fellow humans. We envision an academic community that is creative and supportive, producing research that is professional, timely, and useful for practitioners in the field. Foragers pursues this vision by facilitating online and on-campus discussion, sharing info and announcements via email, providing a website with helpful resources, and hosting an annual symposium in Southern California.

Foragers is a project of Open Silo. We focus on colleges and universities in Southern California, but we welcome all scholars and researchers who address topics related to food and agriculture.
